JOHN MAYALL

DUSTER BENNETT
b. Anthony Bennett, c.1940, d. 26 March 1976.
Bennett was a dedicated British one-man-band blues performer, in the style of Jesse Fuller and Dr Ross. He played the London R&B
club circuit from the mid-60s and was signed by Mike Vernon to Blue Horizon
Records in 1967, releasing "It's A Man Down There" as his first single. On his
first album he was backed by Peter Green and
John McVie of Fleetwood Mac . Bennett also played harmonica on
sessions for Fleetwood Mac, Champion Jack Dupree
, Memphis Slim , Shusha and Martha Velez. He
was briefly a member of John Mayall 's
Bluesbreakers, and in 1974 recorded for Mickie Most 's Rak Records label, releasing a
single, "Comin Home". He was killed in a road accident, after falling asleep at
the wheel, on 26 March 1976 in Warwickshire, England, returning home after
performing with Memphis Slim.
